This Privacy Policy explains how Sunlight: UV Index Tracker (“Sunlight,” “the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) accesses, processes, stores, and protects information.
Sunlight is designed to keep personal daylight and preference data on your device. We do not operate a backend server that receives your Apple Health data, manual outdoor sessions, skin response profile, or forecast history. The App does not require an account and does not include third-party advertising, behavioral tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. We do not sell personal information or use health information for advertising, marketing, profiling, or data brokerage.
Sunlight uses Apple-operated services when you request a forecast, search for a city, download the App, use widgets, or make a purchase. Apple processes information for those services under its own privacy policies and terms.
Sunlight needs a forecast location to provide local UV and weather context. You may:
Location coordinates or a selected city are sent from your device to Apple-operated MapKit and WeatherKit services as needed to search for places and obtain forecasts. We do not receive those requests on a developer-operated server. The selected city, last resolved coordinates, and cached forecast context may be stored locally on your device so the App and its widgets can work consistently.
Sunlight does not use location for advertising or cross-app tracking. You may change or revoke Location access at any time in iPhone Settings and can select a different city inside the App.
With your permission, Sunlight reads only the Time in Daylight category available through Apple Health. The App does not write Health data.

Apple Health data is processed on your device. It is not uploaded to our servers, sold, used for advertising, or shared with data brokers. It is not sent to Apple Weather when Sunlight compares recorded intervals with forecast context. You control HealthKit access and may change or revoke it at any time in the Health app or iPhone Settings.
If you choose to use these features, Sunlight may store manual outdoor-session start and end times and an optional self-reported skin response profile. This information is stored locally and is used only to provide the App’s planning, tracking, and personalization features.
The profile and resulting ranges are estimates for general wellness and planning. They are not direct measurements of personal UV exposure and are not medical advice or guarantees of safe exposure.
Depending on the features you use, Sunlight may store the following information on your device:
This information is not sent to a developer-operated server. Local data may be included in device backups according to your Apple backup settings and Apple’s policies.
If you grant notification permission, Sunlight schedules forecast-aware or custom reminders through iOS. The App does not use a developer-operated push-notification server. Reminder configuration is stored locally, and you can change notification access in iPhone Settings.
Sunlight widgets read limited forecast, recorded-daylight, preference, and Pro-access snapshots from the App’s local shared container. This allows the App and its WidgetKit extension to display authorized information on your device. These snapshots are not uploaded to our servers.
Sunlight Pro purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. Apple handles your Apple Account, payment method, billing information, renewals, cancellations, and refunds. Sunlight does not receive or store payment-card details.
The App receives only the verified product and entitlement information needed to determine whether Pro features should be available, such as whether a monthly subscription or lifetime purchase is active. Apple’s handling of purchase information is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and terms.
If you contact us by email, we may receive your email address, message, device information, screenshots, or other information you choose to provide. We use this information only to answer your request, investigate technical issues, and improve support.
Please do not include Apple Health records, precise location information, or other sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your support request. Support communications may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request, maintain support records, or comply with applicable law.

Apple processes this information under its own privacy policies and terms. Because the App’s personal health and habit data remains on your device, we generally do not possess that data to disclose. We may disclose information we do possess, such as a support email, when required by applicable law or a valid legal request.
This support and privacy website is hosted by GitHub Pages. When you visit the website, GitHub may process technical information such as an IP address or browser details under GitHub’s own privacy policies. GitHub does not receive your in-app Apple Health data from Sunlight.
Apple Health records remain managed by Apple Health and are not retained on our servers. Manual sessions, preferences, and cached information remain on your device until you remove them through available App controls, reset the relevant settings, or delete the App.
In Sunlight, open Settings, then Data and privacy, to delete local manual records. You can also remove individual manual sessions from the daylight records view. Deleting Sunlight normally removes its local app and shared widget data from the device. Apple Health records are not deleted by these actions.
To revoke Health or Location access, manage Sunlight’s permissions in the Health app or iPhone Settings. To request deletion of information you previously sent through customer support, contact jxiaoai@icloud.com.
Sunlight uses iOS sandboxing, app-group access controls for its widget extension, StoreKit verification, and available device data-protection features to protect locally stored information. No security method can guarantee absolute protection. You are responsible for protecting access to your iPhone, Apple Account, device passcode, and backups.
Sunlight is not specifically directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a developer-operated server. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support communication, contact us so we can review and delete it when appropriate.
Sunlight is intended for general wellness, informational, and planning purposes only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or a promise of safe sun exposure or safe tanning.
UV forecasts come from Apple Weather. Time in Daylight and manual sessions represent recorded outdoor time, not guaranteed direct sunlight. Personal UV exposure context, skin-response ranges, and Vitamin D sunlight opportunity are modeled or qualitative estimates. They are not direct sensor measurements, exact burn timers, Vitamin D intake or production, sufficiency assessments, blood-status measurements, safe exposure times, or guarantees of risk-free tanning. Follow authoritative local guidance and consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical concerns.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App’s features, data practices, or legal requirements change. The updated policy will be published on this page with a revised effective date. Material changes will be communicated when required by applicable law.
